JJA is an abbreviation of Japan Jewellery Association (Corporation). As a public-service corporation representing the jewellery industry, JJA has been conducting since its establishment such activities as those for the development and promotion of the industry and international exchange under the support and guidance of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Ministry of Labor, Mint Bureau of the Ministry of Finance, Tokyo Metropolitan Govemment and other agencies and with the cooperation of related industrial organizations. It is organized by regular members, organizational regular members and supporting members, and regular members are companies, cooperatives and other corporate bodies which are engaged in manufacturing, exports, imports or distribution of jewellery. Corporate regular members are about 1050 and organizational regular members are 25 organizations. Supporting members are composed of Japan Pearl Promotion Society (Corporation), Japan Gold Metal Association(Corporation)and Japan Watch Importers' Association (Corporation), including also schools of jewellery, companies engaged in jewellery exports and imports and others. As special supporting members, De Beers Diamond Promotion Service(DDPS), Platinum Guild International (PGI) and World Gold Council (WGC) also have participated in JJA. In addition, JJA is promoting its activities in close collaboration with such organizations as Central Vocational Ability Development Association and Living Goods Promotion Center (Foundation).
